The Blogger Collective: Meet the Founders.

We thought you might want a peek behind the curtain to see just who is behind The Blogger Collective (think Wizard of Oz, but with better shoes). And what’s a better way than filling out our own survey (which you’ll see in future posts featuring members as part of our Blogger Babe of the Week series) + a little twist on where we see this whole little blogger community going.

Nikkinikki from the fashionable white and co-founder of the blogger collective

I am a graphic designer by day, fashion blogger by night. I grew up in Memphis, but now live in Jackson, Mississippi, with my husband and two dogs I think are my children (which they are). I was a fashion merchandising major in college and have always been completely fashion obsessed, so The Fashionable Wife was a good way for me to channel my fashion energy.

1. What is your favorite thing about blogging?
So many things! The friendships I have made, the people I have been able to work with, and the process of creating content and putting it out there for people to read. Blogging is really hard, but is also really rewarding.

2. What do you find the most challenging about blogging/being a blogger?
Wanting to do it all and finding the time. It is all about balance. And there are SO many things that I want to do. It is difficult making the time for it all.

Blogging consistently is so important, and so is creating good content. But you also have to consider social media, reader engagement, commenting on other blogs, promoting your posts, etc. It’s a lot of work!

3. If you had to eat only one food for an entire year, what would it be?
Pasta. Definitely pasta. I am Italian, so it would be unnatural for me to go without. I could eat pasta every day and never get tired of it.

4. If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
Hmm, probably teleportation. I like the idea of being able to jump to a place super fast, like the beach or NYC. But if there is a super power where I could shop all I want and not be broke, and eat all I want and not gain weight, then I would pick that one.

5. What is your vision for The Blogger Collective?
My vision for The Blogger Collective is for it to be a place where bloggers from all different subjects and locations can come together, learn from each other, and develop friendships. There really isn’t a place out there that doesn’t focus on either a location or blog category as the basis of the group (that I know of, at least). And I really felt like there was a void for us to fill.

There is SO much competition in the blogging world. Bloggers don’t support each other because of fear of competition. Even worse, some bloggers cut each other down just because they can. That isn’t what The Blogger Collective is about. I want it to be about supporting each other and developing friendships. We should never stop learning, and I want The Blogger Collective to be a place for this.

I am so lucky to have Ashley as the co-founder, partner in crime, and friend. We have worked so hard to create The Blogger Collective, and I hope other bloggers will find it to be the incredible space we plan for it to be.

I live in Kansas City, balancing a content strategy career with a pretty intense desire to achieve a 100-pair ankle boot collection. I’m a little loud, a lot sarcastic, and would totally vote for any political candidate who promised to add an extra day to the weekend.

Le Stylo Rouge is my little corner of the web, and has become this amazing avenue to exploring my personal style, forging new partnerships, and making some great friends.

1. What is your favorite thing about blogging?
I’ve been a writer since the good ol’ days of Windows ’95 and spent countless summers scheming how to get my mother to increase my back-to-school shopping budget. Blogging brings those two together in a fun, expressive way.

2. What do you find the most challenging about blogging/being a blogger?
If you want to do it right, you have to commit. (And I like to get A’s, so this is important for me.) That means taking the time to invest in planning, writing, shooting, proofing, building your profile, etc. You can’t just hit ‘publish’ and walk away; there’s so much more to blogging than that. I do quite a bit of time-carving, trying to find time to give the blog the attention it deserves. It can be difficult, and I often find myself spinning from my super long to-do list. But it’s also a really rewarding + worthwhile experience.

3. If you had to eat only one food for an entire year, what would it be?
Cheese, no question. There are so many kinds, it has calcium, and it’s so good. I don’t even know who would answer anything other than cheese, honestly.

4. If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
Teleportation. (Twins, Nikki!) The ability to be able to just jump to any place, at any time, would be epic. And useful.

5. What is your vision for The Blogger Collective?
My vision for The Blogger Collective is a space where bloggers can come and learn from each other. Whether you’re looking to jump into a new form of social media or trying to take better pictures with your camera, I want The Blogger Collective to provide reliable, easy-to-digest content to help you achieve those goals. Bonus: I want all of this to happen in a supportive, environment.

Nikki has proven to be an amazing friend and partner in this endeavor, and I’m so excited about the next chapter for The Blogger Collective!

  1. What a fun post – loved getting to know more about both of you! Ashley – I WOULD TOTALLY CHOOSE CHEESE too, my favorite ever, always. I would eat a block of cheese for lunch every day if I could 😉

  2. Good to meet you Nikki (I have been viewing Ashley’s blog for awhile.) I was wondering how I get The Blogger Collective button? I am interested in the featured blogger sometime. Just let me know what questions you need answered and time frame. Thanks, Rachel
