Hillary is a fashion blogger at Style in a Small Town, where she journals about her love for fashion and bargain shopping. A Midwestern girl, born and raised, Hillary and her adorable Puggle puppy, Howie, love to take long walks on the non-existent beach (aka cement sidewalks in snow-packed Illinois) and cuddle on the couch and watch The Bachelor! When she’s not blogging, reading blogs or absorbing any and all knowledge possible about blogging, she’s catching up with friends and drinking wine (and lots of it).
What is your favorite thing about blogging?
My favorite thing about blogging is feeling a part of a community of amazingly talented women who are incredibly supportive and friendly. I have only been blogging for a short time and I’ve been amazed at how welcoming people have been. I love attending conferences and workshops and making connections with people I may not have otherwise had an opportunity to meet.
What do you find the most challenging about blogging/being a blogger?
There are several things I find challenging about being a blogger, especially being a new blogger. One challenge is definitely time management. I have a full-time job outside of blogging and I can’t imagine how some women are moms, working AND blogging, etc. They must be superheroes! The second is staying focused on my own successes and not comparing myself to others. There’s a quote by Jon Acuff I always try to keep in the back of my mind, “Don’t compare your beginning to someone else’s middle.” There are no truer words to remember!
If you had to eat only one food for an entire year, what would it be?
Pasta, hand’s down! Especially if it was accompanied by Olive Garden’s breadsticks! 🙂
If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
Teleportation! I love traveling, but I despise the whole getting there part of it. I’d like to be able to teleport my friends and family though too, because who wants to travel on their own!?
Thanks so much, Hillary! Everyone go give her a shout at Style in a Small Town.
