jessica cubicle chicJessica of Cubicle Chic

Jessica is the style blogger behind Cubicle Chic, where she tries to bring a sense of fashion and beauty to a 9 to 5 in marketing– at a biotech company, no less. Her obsession with fashion combined with a knack for writing led her to start Cubicle Chic. Her job in the corporate world gave her knowledge of how to dress the part, and Jessica knew a blog on the topic could be a space where her opinion would be impactful. Since launching Cubicle Chic, aside from creating the best content possible, Jessica has been looking to make meaningful connections in the blogosphere and looking forward to the next phase of her blogging journey, whatever that may be.

What is your favorite thing about blogging?
I’ve never considered myself to be the creative kind; I’ve never shown inclination toward drawing, painting, sculpting or anything that’s considered artistically creative. However, this all changed when I started shopping for myself. I knew very early on that fashion is where I will express my need for creativity in this life. Thankfully, despite my immigrant background and having moved to the U.S. at the tender age of 15 (not speaking English prior to that), I have gained a decent enough command of the English language, and enjoy making people laugh and making connections via writing. Cubicle Chic allows me to do both freely and share it with the world– it’s kind of awesome.

jessica cubicle chicWhat do you find the most challenging about blogging/being a blogger?
As of now, the biggest challenge is simply creating enough content so it “sticks.” Having a demanding 9 to 5 job and a photographer who doesn’t live very close to me can be a real challenge. I have a lot of ideas for blog posts, but really need the time to lay them out, get amazing photos taken, and go from there.

If you had to eat only one food for an entire year, what would it be?
It’s a Taiwanese snack/street food called popcorn chicken. It’s breaded pieces of chicken that are deep fried… I am salivating as I type this. I would eat this every day, every year, for eternity.

If you could have any super power, what would it be?
If I could have any super power, it would be to see through deception and be able to detect lies. I am one of those people who are incapable of successfully lying or deceiving. Trust me, I’ve tried! Some may say the same because they come from a place of nobility. I’ll be honest (ha!) and say that for me, it comes from knowing how bad I am at lying, and wanting to live in a world of simplicity.  If I could see through deception, I could keep my environment free of these things and, hopefully, live a simpler and happier life.
