A new month means it is time for a new challenge! And since it’s also a new year, we are talking about goals for all of 2016. Let’s dig in!
You know how it goes: new year, new beginnings. Right now everything feels fresh, so it makes sense to take some time and think about what you want to accomplish with your blog in the next year. Maybe it’s one huge goal you want to accomplish by the end of 2016; think working with a major brand, growing your blog’s following by a substantial amount, or running point on a big collaboration project with other bloggers.
If going big isn’t your thing (or you have several goals in mind you want to check off this year), you can break your goals down to quarterly, monthly, or even weekly goals. It’s totally up to you!
Keep in mind: you want your goals to be attainable, so be reasonable as you plan for 2016. Do you have enough time in your busy sched to accomplish that major goal? There’s nothing wrong with dreaming big, but you need to have the time + dedication space available to leverage against making that goal a reality. Alternatively, your big blog goals could mean cutting back in other areas of your life (if possible/necessary). You just have to be real with yourself + know your limits, while pushing yourself to grow at the same time. (Not easy, but you can do it!) If you do go with one huge goal, don’t forget to add check-in points throughout the year to track your progress.
Striving for smaller goals this year? They can be a bit easier to achieve + feel less daunting because they’re chunked out. Small goals don’t mean small gains, however. Sometimes you can spread the goal love, so to speak, by picking goals for different areas of your blog. Maybe one quarter you work on your SEO (learn how with this Blogger U series: 101 and 201), maybe another you focus on your social media engagement, etc. You’ll have a more well-rounded blog + following at the end of the year– and there’s nothing wrong with that!
